Gray Stone

Our Gray Stone is crushed granite. We make every effort to provide as much continuity of size and color as we are able. Please come look at our samples. Crusher Run: 3/4" and smaller to include fines and dust.

This material is most often used as a base material. One can create a base for a road, a driveway or a foundation, use it to smooth a surface or make minor repairs.

#68 Gray Stone: 3/8" – 3/4" pure stone

This is a small stone that will lock down tightly and should provide good longevity. It is recommended as top cover stone for a flat or circular driveway. It can be used for walkways and its smaller size allows for more ease of movement, especially in a residential setting or perhaps parking lots because of the amount of foot traffic they incur.

#5 / 57 Gray Stone: 3/4" – 1 1/4" pure stone

This stone is quite versatile. It can be used for driveways to create a base or as a top cover stone, especially if the surface has a grade, or slope, up or down. It is a larger stone that can provide more weight to stay in place in that application without being too large to function easily. It is sometimes used in applications where the traffic is heavier, either by volume or by weight. It can also be used as a drainage stone.

#4 Gray Stone: 1 1/2" – 2 1/2" pure stone

Because of its size, this stone is most often used for drainage. It is recommended for French Drains. It can be used for ditches or for driveways that have very soft surfaces that might absorb smaller stones too quickly.

#3 Gray Stone: 2 1/2" – 3 1/2" pure stone

#1 Gray Stone: 3 1/2" – 4 1/2" pure stone

These are the largest of the Gray Stones that we carry. They are both used for many of the same purposes. Construction entrances are the most common but they can be used in any area where the ground is very soft to stabilize and create a base. They, too, can be used in applications such as ditches, etc.

Brown Gravel

Brown Gravel is formed in, and mined from Sand. It takes its color from the vein from which it is mined and so can vary greatly. As with the gray stone, we do what we can to provide materials that are constant with regard to size and color. Please come look at our samples!

#78 Brown, Pea Gravel

This stone is small, 3/8" and smaller. Its most common uses include landscaping, sometimes walkways and sometimes driveways. Its rounded edges make it very easy to walk in.

#57 Brown, Natural Gravel

This stone is a mix from pea gravel size up to 1 1/4" – 1 1/2" in size. Often seen in landscaped gardens as well as driveways.

Clean, crushed 78's - 1/2" Brown Crush – No Dust

1/2" and 3/8" crushed gravel that is ideal for driveways. Its sharp edges make it compact nicely and stay in place for maximum longevity. ½” Brown Crusher Run

1/2" and 3/8" crushed gravel with sand, it is a good base material for driveways, foundations and the like. It can also be used for compaction and repairs. #57 Brown Crush (Cracked 57's)

Good for landscaping, driveways, parking areas and the like. As with the other crushed varieties, this material compacts and stays in place well.

Sands

We operate from a federally regulated mine. All of the sands are mined here and then the clean sands are washed and separated. Fill Sand is not processed but it is a clean product.

Fill Sand or Road Material

This material is basically the same. It is a product that is a combination of clay and sand that is natural to our area. This is not a processed material but it is clean. It is mined here and so contains no trash or building materials. The ratio of clay to sand varies depending on the vein from which it is mined.

Fill Sand is usually used as a compactable base for foundations, to raise and level ground, in dog kennels and in barns.

Road Material needs to have a higher sand content to give the compaction as well as the drainage required for driveways or roadways.

A Sand

This is a coarse, washed clean, pure sand that is beach consistency. It contains larger grains to include tiny pebble, shell sized pieces. It is used to mix concrete, as play sand for children’s sand boxes, horseshoe pits, under houses to provide moisture control and on beaches when erosion has taken its toll.

Mason Sand

This is a fine, washed clean, pure sand. Its most common use is making mortar for laying brick. It is recommended for use under the liner of any aboveground swimming pool. Its fine texture means that there is nothing in it large enough to pierce that lining and allow water to escape or cause you to have to replace the liner.

Golf Course Sand

Some Golf Course Sands are pure sand and others are blended with additives to meet the specifications of their use, i.e. Greens Mix, Top Dressing Sand, etc. If you have a need for this product please contact the office for more information.

Topsoil

Topsoil can be, and very often is, seasonal. It is a screened product and only available for delivery. Please contact the office if you would like more information or to set up a delivery.
